Malaika kindergarten, an affluent childcare school situated in Lubowa Kampala is organizing a community run to raise funds to support Hospice Africa Uganda, a local NGO that provides palliative care for patients suffering from end-to-life diseases.
According to the director of Malaika Kindergarten, Ms Shantal Waza, the communit run is scheduled for November 5th 2016 at 8am and is expected to attract parents of the children at the school and other participants outside the school.
“We are very excited about this run and the fact that we are inducting our children to supporting a good cause especially critically ill patients mainly children and women with cancer. We are happy that all money raised during the run will go to Hospice Africa Uganda because of their good work towards the care of children and other patients with terminal illnesses,” Waza said, pointing out that its part of the school policy to support a good cause by giving back to the community.
“We have always wanted to give back to the community and support God’s people that are in critical need of help and we are happy to be part of this as a school.”
All those interested in participating in the run will pay UGX15, 000 and UGX7, 000 for adults and children respectively and will receive running kit, bottle of water and fruit. According to Waza, after the run, there will be a get together with speeches from the school administration, parents and representatives of Hospice Africa Uganda. Snacks and more drinks will be served at a fee as part of the strategy to raise more money for the cause.
