Ecobank and Hospice Africa Uganda (HAU) on 25th July, 2017 launched a fundraising drive geared towards generating funds for Palliative Care for thousands of patients receiving care across all 3 HAU centres in Hoima, Kampala and Mbarara.

The campaign will include placing donation boxes in all Ecobank branches in Kampala, Jinja, Mukono and Mabrara where Ecobank customers will have the opportunity to donate towards the cost of patients’ care at HAU.

In addition, Ecobank is providing an online platform where the public can conveniently donate through their smart phones by simply scanning a unique Masterpass QR code assigned to HAU and making the donation directly to its account using an application that can be downloaded from Ecobank website.

Speaking at the brief function that took place at Hospice Africa Uganda offices in Makindye, Dr. Eddie Mwebesa, the Chief Executive Director of Hospice Africa Uganda thanked Ecobank for the great initiative that will help generate funds for the care of over 2,000 patients who are currently on care.

The Executive Director of Ecobank Mr. Clement Dodoo said he was so impressed and moved by the work of HAU and thanked the current board members for their great leadership. “ I was so happy to know who the board members are and when you see people like this who are working so hard to deliver change, all you can do is to join them” Said Clement who has personally supported HAU for the last 2 years.

Sebastian Ashong–Katai, The Ecobank Group Head of Financial Institutions and International Organizations who is in Uganda on a business trip was very pleased with the work of Hospice Africa Uganda, saying “I am very glad to have been able to come across this project delivering such a great service to the community. I will work with our team in Uganda to support this work at all levels possible.”
